Screening procedures for passengers travelling to and from US
Subang (15 April 2010): Passengers flying to and from the US are required to provide mandatory personal details at the time of booking.
Known as the Secure Flight Program, this is to enable pre-screening of information prior to passengers arriving at the departure airport.
Passengers are required to provide the following details:
- Full name (as it appears in the passport)
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Contact details (home and mobile phone numbers as well as email addresses)
Malaysia Airlines, like all international airlines, is required to provide the data to the US's Transportation Security Administration (TSA) which is responsible for the screening process, no later than 72 hours before the departure of the flight. This information is matched against the US Government's watch lists.
In the event further passenger information is required by TSA, Malaysia Airlines will contact the passengers concerned.
Every passenger must receive clearance from TSA before the passenger is allowed to board the flight travelling to and from the US.
Due to the Secure Flight Programme, web and kiosk check-in services for flights to and from Los Angeles are not available. Customers are to check-in at the counters.
Malaysia Airlines flies from Kuala Lumpur to Los Angeles, via Taipei, 3 times a week.
